England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland - What's the deal?
The four ‘countries’ that make up the United Kingdom (UK in short ) – England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland – are often outside the UK all together referred to as ‘England’ or England, but strictly speaking this is not correct.
Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland each have their own regional governments and their own flags. The Union Jack is the national flag of the United Kingdom.
What matters to us is that laws and regulations are not the same everywhere.
Where we refer to English law, this primarily means the law of England and Wales. However, if you have a legal question about Scotland or Northern Ireland, do not hesitate to ask us about that as well. We will then either be able to assist you ourselves or, if necessary, refer you to another local professional with that specific expertise.
